Another Friday-Eve rolls around and it's time to get inky with a new CASE Study. We have the super duper Julie Ebersole on board with us to oooh and aaaah over for March, so let's get straight to it and feast our eyes on this beauty of hers up for CASEing:
Check out the original post of this card here.
I'm hoping that you can tell that I was inspired by Julie's use of negative space and cool splatter technique. I promise you that the splatter's there - you may have to come close to the screen to see it, but I promise you it's there!
- Consider using vellum behind negative spaces. To add more interest, use markers to add a design to your vellum. I simply used a ruler to draw some lines on the reverse side of the vellum with a grey alcohol marker.
- And whilst we're talking about vellum, I used it on the bottom half of my card giving me a smooth surface to contrast against the impressed pattern on the cardstock. Easy peasy, and the joy of vellum is that it will coordinate with whatever colour cardstock you're working with!
- Are you a splatter-phobe like me? Consider using splatters in the form of stamps instead. The splatter stamp I used was from Happy Trails (Papertrey Ink)
I'm also entering this into the fabulous Moxie Fab World: Emphasise the Negative Challenge. The negative space in my design is emphasised by placing vellum (with a hand drawn design on it) behind the negative space for an interesting focal point.
As for CASE Study, well you've got until Tuesday to get the mojo tickin' and get creating. Why not check out the rest of the CASE Study DT to get some super inspiration?
